Privacy & Cookies
Effective October 27, 2026.
This notice explains how information is used in connection with savepointcodex.com, an independent publication edited by B.K. Snow in Virginia, United States.
Information provided by readers
When you comment, WordPress.com processes your comment and the information supplied with it, including your name and email address. Your displayed name and an approved comment are public. The email address supplied in the comment form is not displayed as part of the comment. If you contact us privately, we use the details you provide to handle your inquiry. Contact-form submissions are stored by WordPress.com for private access by the site editor and are not published as comments.
When you subscribe, WordPress.com processes your email address and subscription choices to send the updates you request. We use the subscriber list for SavePoint Codex communications and do not rent or sell that list. Submitting a comment does not itself require signing up for publication updates; subscription choices are separate.
Hosting and website services
Our site is hosted on WordPress.com, operated by Automattic. Its services can process technical information such as IP addresses, browser information, and access records for site operation, security, and related services. Comment tools may also use spam filtering and Gravatar avatars. Automattic explains its processing in its Privacy Notice for Visitors to Our Users’ Sites.
Cookies, embedded media, and analytics
WordPress.com uses cookies and similar technologies for site features and related services. Some are associated with signed-in accounts or saved preferences. Other technologies can measure site or email activity. See Automattic’s Cookie Policy for its practices and available controls.
Posts may include YouTube videos or other third-party embedded content. Loading or interacting with that content can allow the provider to process information under its own policies. Opening an external link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.
WordPress.com newsletter tools can provide open and link-click statistics. Email and site statistics may be processed by the platform; blocking cookies alone does not necessarily prevent email pixels from loading.
You can manage cookies through your browser and the controls described in our providers’ policies. Automattic states that its services do not all respond to Do Not Track signals and that it recognizes Global Privacy Control for applicable opt-outs. See Automattic’s Privacy Policy for these controls. Embedded services have their own privacy practices.
Subscriptions and email replies
You can manage subscription preferences or unsubscribe using the links in newsletter emails. You may separately choose comment notifications. Stopping newsletter emails does not automatically remove an existing public comment or close an account you hold with WordPress.com.
Under the current newsletter setting, replying to an issue or article email submits a comment for the related post; approved comments can appear publicly. Use the private contact form on our About page for private inquiries.
Retention and requests
We retain published comments while the related discussion remains available unless a removal request is accepted or moderation requires removal. Subscription information is used while a subscription is active; limited records may remain to honor unsubscribe choices or meet security and legal needs. Platform logs, backups, and account records follow the relevant provider’s practices. Contact messages may be retained to handle the inquiry and related correspondence.
Use the private contact form on our About page to ask about information we control or to request access, correction, or removal. We may need to verify a request or coordinate it with our provider. Requests concerning a separate WordPress.com or Google account may also require contacting that provider. Applicable legal rights remain unaffected.
Changes and contact
We update this notice when our practices change and show the effective date on this page. For privacy questions, use the private contact form on About SavePoint Codex.
